Trouble in the Terraces of my mind

hey...me writing here is a hell of a lot cheaper than therapy...

Well It's been a while updating this, since I really have nothing going on in my life. I went to a job fair the other day and found it to be a complete waste of time. First they stressed I should bring 10-20 resumes to hand out to the companies there. So I print out the 20, and probably killed a tree doing so. I get to MSG where the fair is being held. I get there in time before the line got too out of hand. I eventually get into the Garden, get to the "expo center" in there (which was more like a small hall used for parties). They give me something to fill out, and then I go into the main area where supposedly "dozens and dozens" (total of 20 companies were there, I counted and visted all of then within 1 hour) of companies are there ready to meet me and give me on-site interviews (as per the ad). Well it didn't go that way...here's what my average "interview" was like:

me: Hi my name is Peter and I'm looking for an entry level position at your company
assclown from company x: nice to meet you, our company blah, blah ,blah...
me: OK well here is my resume..
assclown: sorry, we don't take resumes here. You go to our website and apply through there..
me: (after dozens of these type conversations): Well what the f*ck am I doing here then?!?!!? I could have done all this at home!!!

so out of the 20 resumes I were to bring with me I handed out a grand total of 3 COUNT 'EM 3 resumes!!!!

On the bright side, Michael Powell (the idiot in charge of the FCC, and ONLY got his job through Daddy) is leaving the FCC, and the world rejoiced!!! if his many years of half-assed work he's accomplished:
1. the almost total monopoly of radio and TV (either owned by Disney, Viacom and the most obscene example Clear Channel). Clear Channel owns all forms of media and likes to use this to enforce their will and opinion. For example, if your a band, in order to perform at a CLear Channel-promotion related venue...you HAVE to be approved by them through how THEY play your music on THEIR radio stations, how THEY promote you through their advertising firm, and how THEY make you jump through hoops in their stupid promotions using tTHEIR radio and advertising (Viacom and Disney are no different, but don't have the marketshare as Clear Channel has). Ask Howie Stern about Clear channel, how they tok him off their stations because he said something against Bush (Clear Channel's bestist buddy). Also, if you get fired from one of these conglomerates, you are in essence blackballed (Opie and Anthony can attest to that)
2. HE also KILLED all creativity and free speech in radio and TV...it's gotten so bad, that I rarely watch broadcast tv due to the sanitized BS that has to be on since no one has the sack big enough to buck the norm. there were people scared to air "saving Private Ryan" one Veteran's Day because the language would have gotten them fined by the Facist Censorship C*cksuckers. I love cable because now you get good shows like "the Sopranos", "Rescue Me", "Tilt", "The Shield", and many many more. I wish I had XM radio, since my favroite radio show, Opie and Anthony had to go there since the FCC used their scaretatics to get them off the free air and they had to go on Satilite, but it is good now since their show is totally uncensored and more creative now.
Thank God he's out now, Since Powell was really looking into censoring Satilite and cable TV/Radio.....but that is really hard to do since you PAY for them and it's not over "free air". I'm sure he would have found a way to screw over the people like that anyway.
I"m done with my ranting tonight...

Had the best breakfast I've had in years today. Helped that the company was so great. Today I met up with someone I've been talking to for a while now. I get to the diner and waited for a bit for her, and I was nervous. I don't know why, since we talk so much and we have a lot in common and we always make each other smile. I guess it's that natural thing of the unknown. She calls me on my phone and says she's in the parknig lot (I guess she got there early as I did..one of the many things we have in common) When she came around the corner, all I could think of was "well, those pictures of her really didnt' fo her justice".

So after the inital contact, all my nervousness went out the window and I was cool. So we sit down and I still couldn't get over how good she looked (which made her sort of uncomfortable since I was staring at her, but I couldn't help it). The good part was that the whole time we talked, and I was able to make her smile and laugh, so I guess I did my job then. I have to say that after we sat there, ate, and talked. The time seemed to go too fast, and it was time to leave. So after we were done, she gave me a ride home and scared the hell out of me (she almost ran a stop sign, nothing major you know!!!) So after she dropped me off, she was on my mind all day, and still is...now all I got to do is figure out an encore for the next time we hang out!!!
This week looks like it's going to be intersting, sometime this week I'm going to go to the temp agnecies I'm registered with and reetest, maybe make me grades better and help meget a shot at a job. Also Thursday, there's a job fair in Manhattan I plan on goig to (it starts at 10 AM, so I figure I'll get there about 7 to try and get in line early).
So things are looking up for me....

Well, Let's see what's going on:

-As far as my life goes, things are going great. I haven't been happy like this in a long time. Things just seem to be coming easier to me, and it seems like (although I shouldn't say this) my luck has started to turn for the better. I hope this last for at least a little while longer.

-Now for things I've noticed. First I love to follow the media and what happens within it. CBS fired a bunch of their employees after it was disovered that the story about the President and his National Guard duty. For those who don't really know here's a breakdown as to what network leans to what:

CBS-very liberal company, and Dan Rather is known to HATE the Republicans and will always take a chance to make it known on air. This is also the network owned by Viacom, the company that's "edgy, and revolutionary with their programming on TV or radio......as long as thair legion of lawyers rape and edit the hell out of it to make it bland and safe from offending people, and then repeat it 5 times a day if it's a hit." Otherwise the real good programming they have (south park, anything on Comedy Central) fors on at odd hours so no one can really see it and hence complain.

Fox- "the fair and Balanced" network....well balanced as far as they are on the other side of CBS and are ultra conservative (borderline facism). But here's also how they make "fair and Balanced" work, they will make programming so smutty and simplistic and taseless, then have their news channel condemn the shows to hell for their lack of morals.

NBC-I think they are the most neutral of all of the networks, but sometimes they go a little too liberal sometimes (watch the "West Wing", that's the best example I can give). their news channel has some good shows on it, and their news programming tends to be the most comprehensive as far as their reporting (that's nationally, but here in NY I can't stand it, always makes Whitey wrong for everything)

CNN-Liberal to almost communist levels!!!! But they also somehow do the best job...mostly I think because they do a fantastic production of all their work ( amazing attention to detail). They can't be beat when it comes to their international coverage, but it's still comeing from a one-sided view.

ABC-I think they are more liberal than neutral, but they are also a more family oriented type network, so they could be neutral since family oriented shows tend to be conservative. I just know their news coverage (both nationally and locally) is very good and I tend to watch them the most (if I'm not watching NBC's cable channel). Then again, this is the company who's CEO at the time was at the company's then owned baseball team's ceremony when they won the World Series in a suit jacket and a MICKEY MOUSE T-SHIRT!!!! Not that affects their attitude, but I just think the guy was insane and so did enough stockholders who got rid of him last year...

-You got to love it to see a 6'11" hick stand up in front of a room filled with reporters and apologize for shoving a cameraman who was about a foot shorter than him the day before. I almost thought he was going to break down and cry...and to think he's going to have a whole lot more cameramen and reporters to throw around when his old-ass arm breaks down, and he has to take the brunt of why "duh Jankees" didn't win a title for some reason their bandwagon fans think is their birthright.

But in Queens, there was bliss and happiness as the Mets showed off their new toy that will be a centerpiece for their new cable channel. This is the second big signing they made, and it's odd that their cheap-ass owner would spend money on GOOD players. I have a theory here about how all this is working:

1. The Met's new cable channel is going to be owned by the Mets, Time Warner Cable, and Comcast Cable

2. Both TWC and Comcast don't want to see this channel fall on it's face when it's launched since they are going to be putting many of $$$ into getting it together and getting programs to put on the channel

3. Comcast and TWC help the Mets by "investing" money into the team that happens to be enough for them to sign Martinez, Beltran, and potentially any other start they can get.

In actuality, this is a good business move. Why not help out one partner that will be bringing the bulk of the content to the station you and your other partner will air. the cable partners will make it up in subscriber's fees (both what they will charge their subscribers, and what they can get form Cablevision and the Satillite companies) and advertising rates. Unless the team goes 20-142, there's almost NO WAY anyone in this cable station deal will not be at least break even after 2 years.

I think I wasted your time reading this enough...until next time

The past several weeks has had an amazing time for me. I can't really get into specifics, since when I do too soon, it get jinxed and blows up in my face. All I will just say is that everyday I've had a smile on my face, and hopefully it'll stay there. I'll also say I've been in the best mood I've been in. The only thing is that, as always, I got that thing in the back of my head making me petrified about screwing this all up. I really don't want to, and I try not to listen to that thing in the back of my head, but its always there. I've felt for the past couple days like i'm one step away from standing on a landmine and everything blowing up. I'm sure it's just me, but I HATE THIS FEELING!! I always think this is the thing that always messes everything up in my life. I have to learn one day that there is always a threat of failure and I shouldn't fear it. What I should learn to do is not block it out, but not take that "what if I fail" into consideration when I think about things I want to do in life. I learned this week that once you are not afriad of failing, there is nothing you can't do......I just wish I can teach myself to follow these words. Maybe what's been going on can help make me learn this, and the happiness I feel right now not only stays with me, but stays with me for a long time and grows.

Merry new year everyone!!! hahahahaaha!!! (taken from one of the old-school Eddie murphy movies where he was funny!!)

hope this year is a success and happy for me (and whoever reads this crap!). HOpefully it turns out to be a complete opposite of how my last year went. So far it's looking up, but still, i've been through this before and hopefully the end result will be different (don't want to get into any details, I don't want to jinx things!).

Got my Christmas gift from my parents the other day, a model car engine for one of my model vehicles. It's going to be one BMF, and I hope to run it soon, only thing is I need it to be warmer and not raining (tempreature is a big thing I need right to break it in and run it well).

What I love about this time of year is that all the stations have all their big shows in marathons. So far, I saw "Viva La Bam", "Chappelle's show", and "Tenatious D (Uncut)" last night. I also got to see one of the greatest comedies that has came out recently..."Eurotrip". If you havent' seen it, go see it. you'll laugh and be offended at the same time!!!
