brain things

I’m drawing a blank and I have nothing to write.  This is what killed my soccer column I had, but maybe I can get that started again.  I just thought I would throw out some things here just to put another entry on my blog….FOR THE TENS OF MY READERS OUT THERE

-Take that chick that is accusing Isiah Thomas of Sexual Harassment, put at beard on her, and she looks like Latrell Sprewell

-Apparently Everyone I know has a new HD TV and I don’t!!!

-I can’t wait until March-new cell phone and maybe an Xbox 360

-I watch “flavor of Love” on VH1, and I hope there’s a cool twist where the winning gold digging skank finds out Flava Flav isn’t rich anymore and they both go back to the Newark Projects where he really lives!!!  Now that would be compelling TV

-“Web Junk 20” is another show I watch, Patrice O’Neil is one funny comedian, and if you can catch the show, really funny.

--The following comedians are funny, and you all should go see them if they hit your Town (and if they are reading, I could use some comp tickets to a show!!)  In not particular order:
Patrice O’Neil
Brian Regan
Bill Burr
Joe Rogan
Stephen Lynch
Bob Kelly
Jim Norton
Dane Cook
Dave Attell
Lewis Black
Rich Vos

There’s probably some I am forgetting, l but these are some of the best out there, and should be seen whenever they are in town

-I got paid last week, and it’s not that bad my paycheck.  Hopefully I get more hours and more money, and then I can visit some relatives I have been meaning to see!!

-Hey cuz, better let me come over and see the Super Bowl on your new fancy TV before it gets repossessed!!!

That’s all I got tonight…my go beddy bye now!!!

random thoughts for the week of Jan 23

Job is going well, lots of free time though.  If I were a smoker, it would be a dream job!! It’s not that hard of a job, but I wish I had more than 25 hours a week.  I may get a full 40 in a couple weeks when the new floors of the building open up, so then I may get some more money.  Speaking of which, I still haven’t gotten my first paycheck yet from my agency.  I have to call them tomorrow and act like a pimp acts with his hos!!!

Steelers-Seahawks in the Super Bowl.  I am not a “fan” of the Steelers, but I do follow them.  See, going to PSU means I was going to a school in Steelers country, so I followed them when I was in school (though my first priority was the Giants).  I hope that the Steelers win, Bettis deserves the ring.

I got so many plans with my money from this job, but I don’t’ know which ones to do.  Obviously I am going to save quite a bit of it, I plan on going with an online savings account (they have a slightly higher %, and no fees) form ING Direct.  I have some ideas as to what major purchases I would like to do, but I may also wait to se how much (if any) of a tax rebate I get to se what I can buy.

How’s the personal life thing going?  Listen closely and you can hear the crickets!!! I haven’t’ got much of anything going on now, but then again I was broke and not really looking.  Maybe something will pop up out of nowhere, but I’m not counting on it.

That’s all I got tonight, maybe I’ll add more in the morning when I have more energy

my weekend sucked...

Well I started my temp job last week, and it’s boring.  All I do is stock and restock pantries on three floors of 50 Rockefeller (where Bank of America is).  It’s not that exciting, and I close the pantries at night, which means I clean all the coffee machines and make sure the pantry is ready for the morning guy to open.  Fridays are going to be a real bitch, since on top of my duties closing the pantries, I also have to empty out the refrigerators of all the old food the morons that work on the floor forget to take out (even though it is posted and they were emailed that they have to keep their crap in the fridge in order and make sure it’s gone by Friday afternoon), and I also have to get rid of the milk in the fridges that are near their expiration date.  The thing is that some pantries use no milk, and I have to get rid of 15 quarts that are in the fridge, and that takes a lot of time to do.  I also have to clean the coffee machine a certain way because they aren’t used on weekends. It’s not a big deal; it just adds more time to my closing process.

I cant’ say I’m unhappy with the job, but I can’t say I’m really thrilled with it.  If it didn’t pay as well as it did, I would look elsewhere (which I am still doing).  I’m looking into city/state jobs, and anything else that I think I can do.  By the Way, my resume is linked on this page on the right.  Take a look and if you think there’s a position you know of that I may fit, let me know!!! I got to get something better than I have now.  It’s cool I have work now, but I’d rather have a full-time job, not a temp job.

This weekend was hell for me.  I spent the entire weekend trying to figure out all the things that are going on in my head.  You see, I haven’t had anytime since my father’s passing since I had to be the “strong” person (as I always find myself), and with everything that had gone on I was so busy dealing with all that, I had no time to deal with all the things with my father’s passing and all the ramifications from that.  On top of all that this job came along, and as usual in my pessimistic attitude, I am worried about how I am going to screw it up.  All this and some other things all came to a head this weekend, and I was miserable.  I was just going out of my mind.  The past couple days haven’t’ been as bad, since I took the time to figure out what I was going to do.  I feel much better now and more focused now on what I have to do now.

I can’t tell you exactly how all this came about Saturday, because I have no idea how it happened!!!  I woke up, did some things Saturday morning, and as I was watching TV, it just hit me.  The rest of the day I was in such a miserable, sad mood it was almost unbearable. I was in a place where I hope not to go to again, but I probably will.  For some reason, I was thinking that I had to do everything I was supposed to do since I got out of college done now.  I felt like I had to get some form of a career going, and get out of the house and not be supported by others now.  It’s hard to put into words, and I felt like I had to do it right away, and the fact I haven’t yet made me really feel like I have this intense pressure on me shoulders.  Eventually it all got to a crescendo, it got a little ugly (not “trash my room/house ugly”, but I felt like doing it), and then it eventually went away and I eventually want to sleep. I woke up Sunday feeling like a million bucks, and have felt just as good since, other than a little nervous about Tuesday hoping I did everything right at work.

Oh well, that’s all I have to write about tonight.  Remember, if you know any jobs I could fit in after reading my resume, let me know!!

up and down weekend, more up though after today

Goddamn it was a good day.  I went into midtown for my interview for a temp-to-perm job at Bank of America.  I went in and it lasted an hour.  I thought it went well, but I always sucked at judging interviews.   Well Low and behold, I get a call from the temp agency and they offered me the position.  I start Wed. for training.  My job will be making sure the pantries/kitchens are stocked and organized on the floors where the conference rooms are.  It doesn’t sounds sexy I know, but I am getting paid.  It’s a 2pm-7pm shift, but that could change in time.  I hope to impress these people well enough that they take me on.

This was a bright spot after the weekend clusterfuck called the Giants-Panthers game.   What a great time for the Giants to shit the bed, and for Eli to show how much of a rookie he really is.  The rest of the weekend consisted of my mom talking trash about how bad the Giants played. But she clamed up when I asked her how the Jets did this weekend, and how did Notre Dame did the other week!

For some reason, the weekend movies on TV didn’t suck.  Two of my all time favorites were on; “The Great Escape” and “Airplane!”.   I love these films, and I cant’ turn them off when they are on.

That’s it tonight, sorry to be short but I’m tired and just can’t think of anything else to say.

I was bored, so I wrote this tonight

Maha Bone my brothers and sisters

So I had two interviews last week.  One was with an employment agency and they seemed like one of the best I have had ever gone to.  They were really professional and not shady.  They called me with am interview for an assignment in midtown on Monday morning.  Hope I get it, it’s nothing exotic or cool, but it would be money in my pocket!  My other interview was with a firm for a market research position.  The woman that interviewed me was about my height, and about ¾ of that was leg.  She wasn’t that bad looking, and I think the interview went Ok.  I find out next week when they might call back for another interview.

Other than that I’m doing Ok, other than I haven’t gotten much sleep lately.  I can’t get to sleep anymore at night.  I think it’s because my mind just keeps rethinking about the night my dad passed away, which aren’t pictures/feelings I really want to deal with anymore.  I also find myself up half the night thinking, “holy shit, I got nothing going on as far as a career, what am I going to do?”  Trust me, I’m doing the best I can.  Check my resume (IT’S LINKED ON THE SIDE OF THE PAGE), I have been working and not sitting on my ass like some of my family members.  I just can’t find a way to get my foot into a door anywhere.  Eventually I’ll find a way through this, or find myself as someone featured on the “Opie and Anthony Homeless Shopping Spree”!!!!!!

I just noticed my Myspace page, and I have a lot of friends!! I tried to leave comments on all of their pages, but it was just taking too long.  It has been an interesting time with this page.  At first it was all guys asking on to be my friend (from the different messageboards I’m a part of).  Over time more and more chicks are asking to be my friend.  Only bad part is most of them are either with a guy or married!!  Oh well, I still haven’t’ figured out the “using myspace to get chicks into the sack” aspect of it, maybe if I have some free time I will.   Maybe one day I’ll do the “look for just a date” thing with it…who the hell knows (hint to the single ladies on my friends list: I am available…)

It’s not all deviants on it.  I found a lot of fellow Molloy Alumni on.  Most of which are guys I was cool with in school.  What surprised me is that most remembered me!  One of them happened to contact me through the Myspace site, and the ball started rolling from there.  One of these days I should try to get them all together and hang out.  I haven’t bothered really looking into PSU alumni, since most of them were assholes and just dicks (of the four years there, I have only one friend from there)

I’m also playing with my widgets.  Widgets are these small programs Yahoo came up with to show/show different things.  For example, I have a weather forecast, RAM monitor, Processor monitor, and a XM radio tuner running right now.  I also have a ton of other widgets as well (like ones for sports scores/news, a craigslilst listing widget that shows listings on Craigslist, and other crap I downloaded).  It’s hard to explain, but I find them addictive, and they are convenient because I don’t’ have to scour around the net for all this info.

Want to see the future of entertainment?  Look at all the things XM are planning on offering to the public.  They got a portable Satellite receiver/MP3 player combo coming out that’s going to blow everything else away.  IT certainly blows away anything Sirius has (in fact, at the CES show this year, Sirius didn’t show up…probably because their 15+ year old technology they call receivers probably wouldn’t fit in the doors!!).  Sirius has a portable receiver/MP3 player, but it doesn’t’ do live satellite signals.  You have to record the satellite signal from home or car, and you can replay it as you walk around.  So Sirius basically made their version of the Ipod, but they are charging almost $100-150 more for it!  Sirius spent (more like pissed) all their money on sub-par programming to put on a satellite system that has more dropouts than a NYC High School and they are relying on dated equipment and hype to sell their over-diluted stock.  When Economic classes look back at the biggest failures in history, Sirius will be there when they gout of business in a couple years, count on that.

FM-the "Matrix" of radio, Thank God I live in the "real" world of XM

Today kiddies I am going to explain to you the abortion called “free FM”, Radios’ most desperate attempt at combating the exodus of listeners to Satellite radio.  Free Fm is the new brand that CBS came up with, and the idea is to show that you can still have entertaining radio on free radio.  Only sad thing is that you usually get what you pay for.  First, Free Fm only has at best c-level talent on their stations.  I will get into who is on the formerly known as K-rock (or as I always called it “the krock of shit music station”) in a bit, but now I want to focus on how pathetic CBS Radio (the brainchild of this) really is and how they are going to fail and lose billions on all this.

Here’s the big problem with “Free Radio”; all the positives they showcase are actually the biggest negatives and reasons why people are getting Satellite radio (9 million so far, but only 6 million got the real company).  Ironically, Free bashes Satellite in their 20+ minute commercial breaks, something Satellite radio channels don’t have (maybe 6-8 minutes every hour on the O&A/R&F channel (High Voltage 202), but that’s on a worst case scenario and whatever ads they have for the non-XM produced channels (ESPN, FOX news, etc.), but there are NO commercials on any of the music stations.  The only breaks in the music are the ones where the DJs come in and talks about some things on other XM channels or gives info on some of the music he played, and at most all that takes 5 minutes.  Also, all the tings on Satellite are uncensored, which is one of the major reasons I got Satellite.  Free will still have heavily edited, sanitized dogshit that they think people will want to and they will try to pass off as “edgy”.   Free will also cut up music if it has a hint of anything controversial, and that just kills any songs (try to listen to a classic rock station and they will most likely cut down some long song to get some more ad time in).

Now onto the “Talent”; put it this way, all the good people who were ever in radio now work for either XM or that minor league company Sirius.  What’s left are one market sensations, has-beens or never was.

In New York (and some other cities), there’s David Lee Roth, the Ex-Van Halen lead singer, who hasn’t been relevant in over 15 years.  Of all the people out there to put in your top markets on the East Coast, INCLUDING THE #1 Market NYC, why would you put a west coast, overrated “personality” in there?  You mean to tell me that after 15 months since Howie said he’s moving to Satellite this is the best morning guy you can find (yes I know in other markets there’s other hacks, but I focus in NYC since I’m here).  I heard parts of it when O&A were in breaks, and Roth is unlistenable. He has music in the background, that goes louder when Roth doesn’t talk, and all he’s talking about is NOTHING!!! Not Seinfeld nothing, but NOTHING!!!!  I didn’t’ have a clue what he was talking about, and I had to shut it off.  Also, there were a ton of commercials, and he had to do live reads, which were an abomination.  I give him until the summer and he will be gone

Next are some nobodies form California, and you can hear the corporate leashes they are on (actually all of the shows are, since they are trying to pass off Satellite radio as garbage and you shouldn’t have to pay for radio).  And for an hour (well 20 minutes I hear when the broadcast shat the bed) was Penn of Penn and Teller fame.  I like Penn and teller’s show on Showtime, but I can’t see Penn having a good show for only an hour, which is probably only 20 minutes due to commercials.

Next is there Radio chick in afternoon drive time, a desperate old skank that’s a the three-time loser in NYC.  She has failed on regular radio twice, and just got dropped like a bad habit from Sirius.  That’s the most depressing part that she couldn’t cut it on Satellite to a national audience, something she always claimed she could do.  Her show always sucked, she had a couple hack comics on her show that brought no funny anything to her show.  To quote Opie of Opie and Anthony, “CBS hired a grandmother to talk dirty to teenagers”.  Again by summer, she may finally get the hint she sucks and is gone from NYC

After her is the saddest failed abortion, Booker.  He has been on Krock for many years and I think has a total of 5 fans.  He had a morning show with his then-girlfriend Lynda Lopez (Jlo’s sister).  As soon as the show was dropped after 3 months on another failed CBS station that attempted to cater to women, his chick dropped him like a bad habit.  You may have also seen this pretty boy wannabe rocker on Vh1, and Entertainment Tonight as a reporter…something the real hard rocking men do.  I don’t know how he kept his job so long (probably his pretty boy crap), since he had NO listeners-I believe he was the third lowest rated show in NYC.  He also had this big bus trip to Atlantic City, where he claimed it was a full bus, but I know people who witnessed that it was only half full, and all the women on the bus were hired by the station from various escort services.  He is also the one CBS tried to make into the “cleaner, corporate friendly” O&A, down to the Rage against the Machine opening music, and some of the “bits; Booker happened to come up with.  He said they were all edgy bits, but I’m sure he had to pass it through an army of lawyers, CBS and FCC reps to make sure it’s all PC and won’t step on anyone’s toes.  I hope he gets called out as fraud that he is, and I think he’ll finally be gone by summer, but he is like the cockroach (who likes cockroaches, minus “roaches”) and I have a feeling he’ll be on his knees to get another shot (take that last phrase as you will…I can think of a couple ways which are probably true).

This whole radio thing makes me happy that I have satellite radio.  For a price of a CD, I get what radio should be, and not a carefully plotted profit driven piece of garbage called FM radio.

a new year, hopefully a new outlook for me

I am writing this on New Years day and it just turned New Years day (happy new years for all).  I don’t celebrate it really, I have no need to.  Even if I wanted to celebrate it this year, I couldn’t.  The past several weeks I have been having back problems, and the past couple day sit has gotten really worse.  It was at the point where I almost pissed myself getting out of bed, the pain was so bad.  SO for the past couple days wearing a back belt my dad had, and using some Icy Hot, it has gotten a little better.  It still hurts like hell and I can barely bend down, but it’s a lot better than it was the other day.

I think the problem is that my mattress is so old and worn out.  It’s been a long time since I replaced it, so I may have to do that soon.  If this doesn’t get better I'll have to force myself to go to the doctor.

Other than that things haven’t been bad.  I have been down a lot due to the holidays and just the stress of how the entire year had turned out as far as my personal, financial, and emotional status.  The back thing has really not helped at all.  In fact sine I have been in pain from it, all these other things have came up and I have been trying to work myself through it all.

Tomorrow should be cool. I’m going to my Aunts house for dinner, and they all cook well.  I am interested in seeing who (if any) will also show up.  Hopefully it will just be the relatives I can stand, and not the savages I wish weren’t related to me.  The good thing is that my mom has set a rule for myself and my sister; if they show up, we leave.  Hopefully it will be after dinner, since the food at my aunts’ house always kicks ass!

How about those Giants!!! They clinched the East and now have home field for the first round of the playoffs!!!  That made me smile.  In a couple days, Penn State gets to go up against Florida State (Hard to tell if it’s the University or Penitentiary, since they are one in the same with how the program is ran there) in the Orange Bowl.  PSU’s Defense, led by Paul Posluszny (the perfect name for a Penn State LB), is going to run through FSU.  Plus anytime Bobby Bowden loses, it’s always a good time.

I got to get some sleep, my back is killing me!!!
